Watermark Theatre

Currently celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Watermark Theatre is a must-see for all on PEI, tourists, and residents alike. Featuring 4 plays per year, currently including Steel Magnolias and Gaslight until August 26, 2023.

Robert Tsonos, the Artistic Director, has an eye for hosting the perfect plays.

-          “Steel Magnolias” is a story of hope, loss, and friendship transported to you through a group of Louisiana women in a beauty shop.

-          “Gaslight”, based on the play Angel Street from Patrick Hamilton, a play from which the term “Gaslighting” originated, is a thriller which has Bella Manningham deal with strange occurrences in her house while being left to decipher whether it is her imagination or reality.

Prior to joining Watermark Theatre as an Actor in 2014, and then being promoted to Artistic Director two years later, Robert traveled the world for theatre.  Over the 30 years of travel, everywhere from Australia to Hong Kong, Japan to Venezuela and more, Robert has partaken in numerous plays, whether that be as the Artistic Director, an Actor, or Director, he has done it all!

Watermark Theatre is also an active member of the community by supporting the youth through different programs such as High School Drama, a Children’s Theatre, and a mentorship program for young theatre artists.

Theatre isn’t all they do! They also have the Watermark Music Series where they bring in Island musicians putting their own spin on classic songs. On August 20th, they have Brad Milligan’s Band playing classic rock such as some all-time great music from the Eagles, The Beatles, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, and many more! Not to mention their beautiful art gallery, currently presenting the work of Adam Sultan, showcasing the lovely work of local artists.

Watermark Theatre recently transitioned to an all-year model in 2022, rather than the seasonal model the company had for 13 years. “We are always looking forward and improving the overall experience the audience has!” Robert Tsonos said regarding the future for the Watermark Theatre.

Watermark Theatre is a must-stop spot whenever you are in PEI!  Check out the wonderful plays and beautiful artwork.
